Please accept my personal welcome to our web site.
My name is Peg Luksik, and I am the Founder and Chairman of Founded on Truth. I felt it was important for me to share with you why this organization exists, and what I hope that we can accomplish.
First, let me tell you a bit about myself.
The most important thing about me is that I am a wife, mother, and grandmother. Jim, my husband of nearly 35 years, and I have raised 6 children, added a seventh through the marriage of our oldest son, and were recently blessed with our first grandchild.
When we married, Jim and I were both teachers. He still teaches high school history and geography and civics, but my path was a bit more complicated.
I became what many would call a citizen activist. For the past 30 years, I have worked to defend life and liberty. During that time, I helped the homeschoolers in Pennsylvania pass the laws they needed to educate their own children, sat on the founding Boards of the Pennsylvania Family Institute and the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference, founded an alternative-to-abortion service organization called Mom’s House, worked as a advisor to President Reagan’s Commission on the Family, and created the National Parents Commission to fight for parental rights in education. I even hosted my own television talk show, called The Learning Curve, on the National Empowerment Television network created by the Free Congress Foundation.
My work eventually led to political action. My first run for political office was in 1990, when I was a candidate for Governor in the 1990 Pennsylvania Republican primary. I ran because the only other candidate on the ballot in that primary was endorsed and vigorously supported by both the National Organization for Women (NOW) and the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL). My opponent did not represent my views, and I felt that voters who also felt disenfranchised deserved a chance to say so with their votes. Many of them took advantage of that opportunity since I received 46% of the vote on a budget of $45,000. Since then, I have both managed campaigns, and run for office again myself.
I could continue, but I’m sure you get the idea. I have spent most of my adult life in those proverbial trenches.
And the sad reality is that we are losing. Despite the dedicated efforts of citizens from all across the country, things are getting worse, not better.
So I decided to stop and think about why. It’s not that our opponents are more intelligent or more committed than we are. It is that they are fighting a war, and we are fighting a series of individual battles.
So every step that they take moves them closer to a predetermined goal, and every move that we make is just a reaction to their efforts. They move in harmony, and we divide ourselves to try to stop each separate step they take.
If this were a sporting event, we would say that they are controlling the game, and that we are in a “prevent defense” despite the fact that we are far behind.
But what if they didn’t control the game? What if we took control instead?
Any coach will tell you that such an action changes the flow, and possibly the outcome, of the game.
So how do we take control?
We look at their goal. It is not hidden. Their goal is to fundamentally transform America from a nation that acknowledges God as the ultimate authority into one in which the State is supreme. If we look at every battle of the past three decades in that light, their objective is obvious.
That makes our mission clear. We cannot preserve America as we know and love her unless we embrace our heritage as “one nation under God”.
I have formed Founded on Truth to do just that. And I invite you to join me.
